The Local Fiddle Music of Glencolmcille

Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí - the name means the ‘friendship or association of fiddle players'.

This organisation was formed in the early 1980's to help support and promote the art of fiddle playing in the Donegal tradition. It operates as a not-for-profit voluntary organisation and any income gnerated is invested directly into their events, programmes, publications, projects and support for living artists. Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí's work is recognised by An Chomhairle Ealaíon/The Arts Council who provide vital financial support for this work.

This is a specialist non-residential music school held in the first full week of August in Glencolmcille. Cairdeas na bhFidiléirí can accept up to 100 students in 10 graded classes taught by leading exponents of Donegal fiddle music. In addition to classes there is a programme of recitals, talks and concerts.
