Conal McIntyre was born in Glencolmcille.

He studied art in Limerick Art School in the 70's and also at Putney School of Art in London. Later he worked in Graphic Design in London. He taught art for several years between Derry, London and Khartoum and continues to teach painting locally.

He works mostly in oils but has tried his hand at etching, pen and ink drawing, tapestry and stone sculpture.
